Pet Horoscopes - What's In The Stars For Your Pet

Article Title: Pet Horoscopes - What's In The Stars For Your
Pet
Author: Carol Anderson

Astrology is mystical, different and unusual. Some people
wonder…why? What is the appeal and/or validity of horoscopes and
astrology? People all have different reasons for what interests
them or what they believe. All personal opinions aside, dog
horoscopes and dog astrology is an area that has grown in
popularity throughout the years. There are books, magazines, pet
newsletter and websites all offer pet daily, monthly, or
birthday horoscopes. Some even provide in-depth analysis of dog
character traits as a result of their astrological sign.

As I browsed through a few dog astrology books and visited
numerous websites (I was visitor number 596,136 at one!), I have
tried to understand the appeal of canine horoscopes. I
understand how dog lovers who have an avid interest in astrology
may be interested in dog astrology, but I have noticed the
audience is much broader than simply people who have a passion
for both astrology and their dogs.

I suppose if a person has a "problem-dog," they may look to
astrology for help and understanding. If they know their dog's
sign, they will be able to read up on their pet's strengths,
weaknesses, desires, likes and dislikes so they may be able to
understand their pet better and can thereby hope to fix the
issues. They want to be able to understand what drives their pet
to do what it does.

For example, I have found out the common personality trait of
each zodiac sign for dogs. Here they are:

1. Aries: leader of the pack
2. Taurus: the strong and silent type
3. Gemini: the yapper
4. Cancer: the home-lover
5. Leo: the boss dog
6. Virgo: the helper
7. Libra: the shop steward
8. Scorpio: the paragon
9. Sagittarius: the problem-dog
10. Capricorn: the social climber
11. Aquarius: the friend
12. Pisces: the interpreter

Just as someone might go to the local bookstore out of
curiosity to see how accurately they believe their zodiac sign
depicts them, they may just take a look at the dog astrology
section. After conducting some basic research, here is a rough
list of 5 popular dog astrology books:

1. Cosmic Canines: The Complete Astrology Guide for You and
Your Dog, by Marilyn
Macgruder Barnewall. (October 13, 1998).

2. Joyce Jillson's Astrology for Dogs by Joyce Jillson. (June
25, 2005).

3. Stardogs: Astrology for Dogs (And Owners), by Helen Hope.
(May 2002).

4. Dog Stars: Astrology for Dog Lovers, by Sherene Schostak and
Wendy Lam. (November 2, 2006)

5. Dogstrology: Interpret Your Pet's Star Sign, by Pat and Cat.
(December 22, 2005).

Of course, another common theme of astrology is compatibility.
Are you and your precious pet compatible? At websites or in
books, all you normally need to do is list your zodiac sign, and
the sign of your pet, and see the results. I suppose I thought
all dog-lovers were generally compatible with their pet, but I
may have been proved wrong.

I still am not sure about the validity of pet horoscopes, but
many people believe strongly about it and will swear by it. The
popularity is obvious; so there must be something to it, right?
Go ahead and check it out. Even if you don't believe in
astrology, it certainly is an interesting subject to examine.
Happy horoscoping!
