Terrier Dogs Are Truely Mans Best Friend

Article Title: Terrier Dogs Are Truely Mans Best Friend
Author: Bob McGuire

Terriers are small dogs of various breeds originally used for
turning out foxes, rats, rabbits etc from the ground.
Characteristics and features of terrier dogs have been
introduced and strengthened by breeding with animals who already
demonstrated the desired traits. The terrier dogs are small to
medium size and are often described as fiery or feisty. All
breeds of terrier dogs can make ideal pets, Wheaton terrier,
Border terrier, Scottish terrier, Bull terrier, Cairn terrier,
Irish terrier, West Highland White terrier to name a few.

Terrier

Terriers were originally developed to hunt rodents and other
pests. Terriers have either short or long-legged body types.
Terriers come in three coat types: wire, smooth and soft.
Terriers adapt well to city life, but prefer lots of exercise.
Terriers are very cute and a very intense. Terriers can make
anyone fall in love with them. Terriers are loyal pets that
will be there when you need them.

Dog

Dogs in the Terrier group were developed to hunt and kill
vermin. Breeding for appearance was only introduced in the 19th
Century. If you are choosing terrier dogs, view breed pictures
and a photo of a puppy. Terrierdogs have always been viewed as
real assets by their owners and have worked with man for
centuries. Before this time dogs and puppies were bred to
increase useful abilities and traits helpful for the duties they
were intended for. The breeds versatile talents made them a
favorite of farmers and ranchers for such uses as protection,
livestock driving, family companions, and as catch dogs for hogs
and semi-wild cattle.

Puppies

Puppies are well socialized and very playful. These wonderful
puppies will make excellent additions to your family. Home
raised puppies have lots of loving in them.

Yorkshire

Yorkshire Terriers, otherwise known as Yorkies, have a long
history of being popular pets and companions in the United
States. Yorkshire Terriers are also clever, independent,
energetic, and are very loyal and affectionate with their
owners. Yorkshire Terriers are easily recognizable by their
compact size and long tan and blue coat that traditionally parts
on the spine. Yorkshire Terriers are an AKC-recognized breed in
the Toy group.

Boston

Boston Terriers are typically compactly built, small, well
proportioned dogs with short tails, erect ears, and a short
muzzle. Boston Terriers are a special dog breed with unique
puppy care requirements. Boston Terrier however is somewhat of
a misnomer however because the American Kennel Club does not
consider them to be terriers, but they are considered a part of
the non-sporting group. Boston Terriers are eager to learn and
are therefore easy to train.

Rat

Rat Terrier dogs are available in many colors. Rat Terrier
dogs can be a good choice if you live in a small house or
apartment. Rat Terrier dogs make great companions and are an
excellent choice if you are looking for a dog. Rat Terrier
dogs and puppies are offered for sale by responsible Rat Terrier
dog breeders. Although their fiery temperaments are useful when
hunting rats, it can make them prone to snap, especially when
over excited children are near.

Terriers are fun to own and be with. They are very loyal pets
and like nothing better than sitting on your lap when they are
not running in circles in the back yard till they run out of
energy (and air).

Pets And Animal Guide

Article Title: Pets And Animal Guide
Author: Lijo George

Sooner or later many parents have to face their child's wish
for its own pet. Whether dog or cat, hamster or pony, the choice
for the right pet has to be a conscious one. The contact with
and proper keeping of animals in a flat requires knowledge of
the diet and character of the animal. To keep a pet means to be
ready to carry responsibility.

It is important to daily play with the animal, to feed it and
to understand when it does not feel so well. Many children
confuse the wish for a pet with the substitute for a toy and are
then easily overwhelmed with the keeping of and care for the
pet. This work then becomes the parent's task, which was not
meant to be the purpose. Before parents agree to the wish, it is
important to explain to the child what daily responsibility,
necessary care and limited free time mean.

Only when the child is fully aware of what it really means to
keep an own animal, one should give its OK. If you are not sure
right from the start which breed to choose, it is always
advisable to have a look into adequate literature on the topic.
In addition you can receive good advise from qualified personnel
in a pet shop or in an animal shelter. It is important that no
hastily decisions are taken, but that it develops into a relaxed
and joyful undertaking.

Working animal

We will probably never know for sure, what the very first
coming together of pet and man was like. Pets originally derive
from wild animals. Man's agenda with breeding animals was to
easily gain sustainable access to products and raw materials for
food development. Man easily understood the different
possibilities in which animals could be of use and he utilized
the drought power of many animals.

Horses for example were used as working animals in forest- or
field works.

We know that dogs are the best snoopers and track seekers. The
most important is their nose, because their scenting ability is
a lot better than that of man. Dogs are not only used to track
down drugs or explosives, but also to find people who have been
buried by an avalanche and are lying meters in the snow.

In science animals are mainly used to have the tolerance of new
medicines tested. Only since the last century they have been
used for animal experiments for tests in medicine but also
cosmetics.

The Best Guard Dogs - How To Care For Them

Article Title: The Best Guard Dogs - How To Care For Them
Author: Gerald Njuguna

If you are like most people, you want to feel safe and
protected in your own home. Some of us will go to the extent of
getting the best guard dogs that has been trained to protect
people. In most cases a loud back from a dog is enough to scare
most of us or alert us of the presence of a stranger in our
homes.

For the normal homeowner who wants a dog guard to protect him,
he or she will go for any dog. Nearly all dog are territorial by
nature and will know who does not belong in their territory.

What kinds of dogs are recognized for their guarding abilities.
There are so many options to choose from. Some of these dog
breeds include: Akita Inu, Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, American
White Shepherd, Anatolian Shepherd Dog, Belgian Shepherd
Groenendael, Belgian Shepherd Tervuren, Black Mouth Cur.

Bouvier des Flanders, Chinese Chonqing Dog, Czechoslovakian
Wolfdog, Estrela Mountain Dog, Eurasian, Mastiff, Fila
Brasileiro, Kerry Blue Terrier, Norwegian Elkhound, Olde English
Bulldoggge, Komondor, Pyrenean Mastiff, Roman Rottweiler..etc
etc. The list is nearly endless!

In many ways, a guard dog is just like any other dog out there.
A guard dog also needs the attention and care to feel loved in a
family. If your idea is to only get protection, I think an alarm
system would be more appropriate for you. In any case, an alarm
system would be more cheaper to maintain in the long run,
considering the costs of medical bills, food, training etc.

Before you decide to buy a guard dog, research on the different
breeds out there. Real guard dogs will cost you time and money
in the long run. You also have to be ready to invest time and
money in professional training. What you need to focus on is to
get a dog that will protect your home and at the same time be a
loving pet inside the home.

Guarding dog breeds should be exposed to different kinds of
people and animals from puppy stage so that they can be taught
how to behave in the correct manner around people who are not
threatening.

Guarding dog breeds by nature are both dominant and aggressive.
For them to learn that you are the boss, use gestures, voice
commands and manners to prove so. Should you show signs of
weakness to guard dog breeds, they will not respect your
authority and will probably not listen to your commands. In
nature, their can only be one "alpha male", so your dog will
take over if you don't!!

For dogs that will be used to guard livestock, you will need to
have a large area that is securely fenced in so that the
territory of the dog is defined. If this is not done, your dog
will perceive his territory to be much larger to include your
neighbors yard or the park across the street. These type of
guardian dogs will also herd you in the process including your
children and your other pets!

Why is this? Because he's been bred to guard flock and this
includes keeping the flock in place where they can be watched. A
properly trained dog will manifest its behaviors as a minor
personality quirk.

Please realize that if you intend to own a guard dog, you
cannot manipulate his aggressive qualities to suit your
intentions. What you can do is learn how to control the dog
through proper training techniques.

Your Dog's Healthy Lifestyle And Organic Dog Foods

Article Title: Your Dog's Healthy Lifestyle And Organic Dog
Foods
Author: Shabi

Just like you want to stay healthy and live a healthy
lifestyle, so too should your pet live a similar healthy
lifestyle. This is not a luxury that either of you can forego,
and getting organic dog food for your dog is one of the few
things that you can do to keep your faithful companion in the
best of health.

Organic dog food can be found readily at many stores now,
although probably not in smaller townships and such where
organic foods and the fad of going organic has not yet fully
caught on. If this is the case you might need to go to a
specialty store or a health food store to obtain organic dog
food for your dog.

The question you might want to ask however might be why you
would want to go to so much trouble to get organic dog food for
your dog. Well, besides the healthy aspect of things, by giving
your dog organic dog food, you can be assured that no poisonous
chemicals in the form of fertilizers and pesticides are getting
into his system.

Organic dog food just like the organic foods we eat, are also
free of genetically modified organisms. When you take all of
these coupled together with the fact that organic foods are also
produced using the best natural methods for the earth, it all
makes one convincing case to go out and get your dog organic dog
food.

The one thing that might give you pause for thought when
looking at getting organic dog food is the prohibitive costs
that you will encounter. Granted, the costs aren't as high as
they were a few years ago when organic dog food came out on the
market, but they can still be pretty staggering if you have to
manage on a tight budget.

Then of course you have the problem of not knowing whether your
dog will actually take to his new diet. Some canine companions
are notoriously picky when it comes to their meals and a change
from the norm might incur what amounts to a food strike, from
your dog until you give him back his normal fare.

If you know that your dog is one of these picky eaters (I know
that mine is definitely a picky eater!) you might want to first
introduce the organic dog food to their diets in slow stages.

This helps to make it easier on your pockets, and in the
unlikely event that your dog dislikes his new organic dog food
you know that you won't be stuck with a whopping bag of dog feed
on your hands.
