5 Reasons Why You Need To Buy A Designer Dog Bed

Article Title: 5 Reasons Why You Need To Buy A Designer Dog Bed
Author: Ethan Edison

As a pet owner, you want your loyal companion to have nothing
but the best. You buy the best food, dress her in all the
right designer clothes and you get her top of the line designer
collars. A designer dog bed is one way that you can pamper your
pet. Here are some compelling reasons to get a designer dog
bed.

Because you and your pet have discriminating tastes.

Your designer clothing and furniture say something about your
personal tastes; therefore your dog's furniture should say
something about him. You want your dog to make a statement
with the high fashion styling of a designer dog bed. When your
pampered pooch lies upon the plush designer dog bed, he will be
telling the world that he is dog of fashion, of intrigue and
very discriminating taste.

Because you only want the best for your dog.

Do you really want anything less than the very best for you
dog? You buy the best food, the best shampoo, the best treats,
why should your dog's bed be any different? Designer dog beds
provide the best bed for your dog. Designer dog beds are
stylish and high quality. He will be surrounded by luxurious,
plush comfort as he relaxes in his very own designer bed.

Because your dog appreciates pure luxury and style

You know your dog better than anyone does and she appreciates
pure luxury. You know that she would much prefer sleeping on a
designer dog bed that one from a (horrors!) discount store. She
will love the feel of a designer dog bed liner and the style
that comes with a high class designer name. Give her the
luxury and style that she craves with her own designer dog bed.

Because your dog prefers quality

Everyone wants quality things that last. Why should your dog
be any different. He wants a dog bed that will stand up to
multiple turns to settle into just the right spot and withstand
his rabbit chasing dreams where he does a little "sleep running
in place." He wants his bed to be of the highest quality so
that he can be sure that it is durable and long lasting and he
won't need to replace it for a very long time.

Because it matches her designer collar!

Is there really any other reason when it comes right down to
it? A designer dog bed just simply goes with your dog's
already high fashion designer lifestyle! She will look
stunning in her designer dog bed, with her designer collar and
designer food and water dish. You want your dog to have the
very best so go designer!

Bottom line is if you want your dog to relax in style with
designs that are high fashion and an attractive addition to
your home décor. A designer dog bed will allow you to reward
your ever loyal best friend to relax in high quality styling
and high fashion comfort.

Self Defence 5: Protect Yourself And Your Dog

Article Title: Self Defence 5: Protect Yourself And Your Dog
Author: John Roberts-James

We read so much about pet owners being attacked, raped and
murdered when walking their dog in the park or wherever..

Now, rightly or wrongly, I consider my first duty is to Tyson,
my dog.

1. I make sure his collar is such that I can slide it off in an
instant, freeing him and making it difficult for (my) attacker,
mugger or would-be rapist to catch hold and hurt him.

2. He is trained to "Bark" on command, to draw attention if we
are trouble. The last thing an attacker wants is publicity: so
the more noise the better. Every time I walk him, I train him
with (small) dog biscuits to bark instantly and loudly. He
doesn't need to bite, just bark. I don't want him stabbed.

Being very world-untrusting, I always have some means of
protecting him [and myself!] in the event of being under
threat.

3. Firstly, his lead has a fairly heavy clasp, such that it
can be slashed through an attacker's face or eye. At the first
sign of danger release your dog and wrap the lead around your
hand with the clasp hanging down for about 30 inches just
behind your buttock. As he closes, slash the clasp through his
face, and slash back again most rapidly and violently, causing
him some inconvenience! This is somewhat similar to the martial
art manrikigusari-jutsu, using a chain in self defence.

4. But personally I always have a second effective weapon with
me – a six inch long dog's chew tucked in my belt. The martial
arts system yawara-jutsu uses a short stick to stab into eyes,
mouth, hand or wherever. This hard chew makes for an excellent
yawara-stick. Most effective and – perfectly legal! You cannot
be accused (by the would-be rapist) that you used a martial
arts weapon to beat him up! [Although you actually have!]

5. But above all - Be Aware! Don't be where Danger might be!
Always carry that long strong dog chew!

Survive!

Five Ways To Prevent Congenital Problems In Dogs

Article Title: Five Ways To Prevent Congenital Problems In Dogs
Author: John Mailer

It is our job as dog owners to make sure that our pets are
happy and healthy. However, it is not always an easy job given
that our dogs are curious and intelligent creatures with a
tendency to get themselves into all kinds of trouble. And when
they do get in sick or hurt, it is up to us to examine them and
find out exactly what the problem is.

Prevention is the main key in order to avoid diseases and
illness from attacking your dog. In fact, the best prevention
begins even before you start breeding the dog. But what do you
do if your pet was born with a health problem? There are a few
options for you to choose from when helping your dog that is
born with a congenital defect. Often times, surgery can correct
a structural defect. Other aspects such as good feeding, good
amount of exercise, proper grooming and veterinary care all
help in controlling certain disorder and symptoms from
occurring. But the most effective treatment for congenital
defects is in preventing them from happening in the first
place.

Here are five ways on how you can prevent congenital problems
in your dog:

1. Never breed unhealthy dogs. Get together two unhealthy dogs
and you have the perfect recipe for unhealthy offspring. Even
if one dog is in good health, mating that healthy dog with one
that is in poor condition still produces a very high risk of
congenital problems to develop in their offspring. You must
avoid breeding pets that have obvious birth defects or behavior
problems. Although the dog may not have a specific genetic
problem, its overall support system is not a good candidate for
developing healthy offspring. In addition, avoid acquiring such
pets unless you are willing to give them the special care they
require.

2. Avoid breeding or selecting dogs with family health
disorders. Do not breed dogs if their close relatives have
congenital defects, physical problems, or inheritable behavior
and temperament. Try to find out the medical histories of both
parents and what percentage of related puppies has had birth
defects. If the percentage of birth defects is less than 5
percent, chances are they have a very low risk of producing
unhealthy offspring.

3. Avoid breeding close relatives. Breeding two dogs within the
same family such as siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts and
uncles has a tendency to "fix" latent defects into their
offspring.

4. Do not select or breed inbred dogs. Be extra careful with
dogs that are currently popular in your area because it is
likely that they have been weakened by intensive inbreeding.

5. Choose breeds that best resemble their canine ancestors.
Features to look for are face shape, size, color, ear shape,
coat texture and length, tail shape, and limb proportion that
most closely resemble that of wolves. See if you can match at
least four or five of these traits. Examples of such breeds
include most of the retrievers, basenjis, shepherds, sled dogs,
spitzs, and pointers.

Always research your breeds thoroughly. In todays internet
world this is quite a simple task. Just type a breed name into
tyour browser, click and the information is at your fingertips.

Labrador Retriever Puppies - 10 Commandments Or More?

Article Title: Labrador Retriever Puppies – 10 Commandments Or
More?
Author: Anna Hart

Labrador Retriever puppies seem to be for sale everywhere these
days. From Georgia to Michigan, Temecula to Hawaii, Labrador
Retriever puppies have become very popular. Your new puppy may
be a black, chocolate, or yellow Lab. Labrador Retriever
puppies are cute, but they are energetic, too, and require
immediate training.

Labrador Retriever puppies need 10 commandments – or maybe
more! From the puppies' standpoint, the 10 commandments should
be given to the humans who will care for them. For example:

* You must take me out for long walks at least 3 times a day.
* You must feed me from your plate when I whine and beg.
* You must let me sleep in your bed with you so I don't get
lonely.

You are intelligent enough to know that would be a big mistake.
You must be in charge, and you must have rules for your Labrador
Retriever puppies. For your help, and with a bit of
tongue-in-cheek, we offer the following.

Labrador Retriever Puppies' 10 Commandments from a Human
Standpoint

1. As long as they live under my roof, Labrador Retriever
puppies will do as I say. When I say "come," you will come.
When I say "sit," you will sit. I am the boss – leader of the
pack.

2. Labrador Retriever puppies will always tell me when they
need to relieve themselves. We will go outside, which is the
only place you may do this. And on the same subject, Labrador
Retriever puppies will learn not to make water simply because
they are excited or acting submissive.

3. I have given you Labrador Retriever puppies comfortable
beds. You will sleep in your beds – not in my bed, not in the
cat's bed, and not in the children's beds.

4. All Labrador Retriever puppies in this home will be given
good, nourishing dog food everyday. You will not supplement
that food by chewing my shoes, furniture, and other belongings.
You will not beg at the table, laying your soft, cuddly head on
my lap to coerce a bite from my plate.

5. I know that Labrador Retriever puppies want to bite and
gnaw, but you will not bite and gnaw on people. If you were
home with your mother, she and your litter mates would soon
teach you not to do it. I'll give you bones to chew instead.

6. All Labrador Retriever puppies get a stomach ache when they
eat the wrong things. If you feel sick, you must never throw up
inside the house – especially not on the carpet or on any of MY
clothing!

7. I understand that Labrador Retriever puppies simply must
tell everybody how exciting life is, but please do it quietly.
You must never, never try to tell the whole neighborhood,
especially in the middle of the night.

8. All Labrador Retriever puppies in this home must understand
that the house is not a glorious obstacle course. You must not
race from one end of the house to the other. You must not use
the furniture when playing keep away.

9. I know that Labrador Retriever puppies love running in the
rain. I do not! You will ask to go out in the rain only when
you absolutely must. You will then do your business quickly so
that I can get dry again.

10. All Labrador Retriever puppies in this house will like the
people that I like, and behave properly around them. You will
NEVER slobber all over people, even though you may love them.

Labrador Retriever Puppies' 10 Commandments From a Pet's
Standpoint

If you are looking for the 10 commandments from a pet's
standpoint, you will find them on several websites. The Dog
Listener is a British site that lists them. Ontario Pet Rescue
also lists them.
